Neal Browning

Neal Browning, 1159 South’s Vice President, was born, raised, and has lived in southwest Springfield most of his life. He is well-known in the community for mentoring and community service.  Neal graduated from the Springfield South High School class of 1980, where he earned All-State honors in basketball.  He is a six-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Urbana University.

Neal has spent his life serving the community in youth coaching and mentoring, after-school programs, and with Opportunities for Individual Change of Clark County.  He has been the OIC’s Director of Youth Services since 2013 and has extensive experience managing non-profit programs and administering grants.


Neal became a mentor with the State of Ohio in 1990 while working at the Springfield Metropolitan Recreation Center and starting an after-school program (Project Choice) geared for young men and women ages 6-18.  Upon graduating from Urbana University, in 1988, he began working in the private sector and mentored young men while coaching AAU Basketball until 1998. He began employment at a Charter School for Middle and High School students in 1999 until 2008.  He coached Men and Women’s Basketball at Springfield High School from 2008-2015.   He is married to Christina Browning. He has seven children, 35 grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
